Wind in the sails and thrilling regattas

Great weather, wind in the sails and passionate competition – this is how the Regatta for the Mayor of Szczecin’s Cup, traditionally held as part of the sailing festival, can be summed up in just a few words.

It’s hard to imagine a sailing gathering without competition on the water! This year, as many as 21 crews took part in the regattas on Lake Dąbie, competing in three categories. Excellent weather conditions made the races extremely spectacular. The boats looked stunning as they raced against the backdrop of Szczecin’s skyline seen from the lake.

After the competition, the crews sailed to North East Marina, where they had the opportunity to celebrate together and review their performances in today’s races.

According to unofficial results, the winners of this year’s regatta were:

  • Open I category: Renpro, skipper Patryk Zbroja
  • Open II category: Zyg Zak, skipper Janusz Olszewski
  • Open III category: Zryw, skipper Jędrzej Owczarski – representing the Szczecin Sailing Centre

The official prize-giving ceremony is scheduled for Sunday, 17 August at 12:00 on Grodzka Island.
