The bridge that will connect the two banks of the Oder River
Żagle 2026 is an event located on both sides of the Oder River. To allow participants to move comfortably and efficiently between the most important points of the event, a pontoon bridge connecting both banks of the river will be installed once again.
The traditional crossing over the Oder will become not only a practical convenience for visitors but also one of the additional attractions of Żagle. The pontoon bridge will be located between the Long Bridge (Most Długi) and the Castle Route (Trasa Zamkowa), connecting the Gdynia Boulevard (Bulwar Gdyński) and the Piast Boulevard (Bulwar Piastowski). Thanks to it, walking between attractions on both sides of the river will be faster and more comfortable, without the need to use crossings located further away.
Soldiers from the 5th Engineering Regiment from Szczecin, who have been supporting the organization of this unique event for years, are responsible for preparing and setting up the structure.
Work on connecting the two banks of the Oder will begin on Tuesday. The first part of the bridge will float down to Szczecin, and on Wednesday, the second part will arrive from Podjuchy. The next stage will be connecting and positioning the structure, as well as preparing the access ramps to the boulevards.
The opening of the bridge is planned for Friday morning. Event participants will be able to use the crossing in both directions during the following hours:
- Friday, August 14, 2026 – from the opening (as soon as possible) until 1:00 AM
- Saturday, August 15, 2026 – from 8:00 AM to 1:00 AM
- Sunday, August 16, 2026 – from 8:00 AM to 11:00 PM
After the end of Żagle, on Monday, August 17, the dismantling of the structure and its return transport will begin. On that day, from 10:00 AM, the fairway will be reopened.
We appeal to all participants using the crossing to follow the instructions of the security and information services. Thanks to this, crossing the bridge will be smooth and safe for all visitors.
