The two-masted schooner Abel Tasman, named after the famous Dutch explorer who was the first European to reach Tasmania and New Zealand, was built in 1913 by J.J. Pattje in Waterhuizen using steel and wood. In 1998, it underwent a long-awaited renovation. On board, it can comfortably accommodate 22 passengers and a crew of three during extended voyages. For shorter trips, it can take up to 60 passengers.
