They are close to the crews

They have characteristic red t-shirts, a lot of energy, and an important task – 24 liaison officers will support the crews of vessels visiting Szczecin during Żagle 2026.

Liaison officers act as the link between the crews and the event organizers. They pass on the most important information regarding the program, help with organizational matters, and ensure that the crews’ stay in Szczecin runs smoothly.

However, it is not just about duties. For many volunteers, it is primarily an opportunity to meet people from all over the world, make friends, and experience a unique sailing adventure. Many former liaison officers still keep in touch with the crews they met, and some have even received invitations to sail together.

“The greatest value is the people. You meet individuals from different countries, and the relationships built during the event often last for years,” emphasize the volunteers.

Liaison officers get to know each other and prepare for their role during joint training sessions. It is also a great opportunity to see behind the scenes how a large sailing event is organized.

During Żagle 2026, they will be one of the most important links connecting Szczecin with the crews sailing into the city.
