“Strażak-24” is a modern fireboat that constitutes a key safety element in the Szczecin-Świnoujście port. This powerful and maneuverable vessel was built in 2022 at the Remontowa Shipbuilding yard in Gdańsk, replacing its worn-out predecessor of the same name.
A multitasker in action: Although its main task is fighting fires on ships and quays, “Strażak-24” is a vessel for special tasks. It can assist ships carrying dangerous goods (e.g., LNG carriers), tow damaged vessels, and even combat oil spills on the water’s surface. Thanks to its L2 ice class, the ship can operate even in icy conditions, ensuring the navigability of the port channels.
A powerful arsenal: The heart of the ship consists of two powerful water-foam monitors capable of shooting a stream of water over a distance of more than 100 meters. It is like directing water from over a dozen fire engines at the fire all at once. Thanks to its azimuth propulsion (thrusters rotating 360 degrees), the ship can turn on the spot, which is crucial during operations in tight port basins.
