From Sea to Sea with a Stop in Szczecin

He has nearly 700 km to cover – alone, in his canoe. Szczecin native Bogusz Borkowski has been paddling along Poland’s rivers for several days now, aiming to arrive in Szczecin for Żagle in 10 days, before continuing on to Świnoujście.

Borkowski began his solo “sea to sea” expedition at the end of July in Gdańsk. But instead of taking the shortcut across the Baltic, he plans to travel nearly 700 km along inland waterways – solo, using only his own strength. In a wooden canoe 5 meters long and 90 cm high, he aims to navigate Poland’s rivers, reach Szczecin in time for the sailing festival, and then continue to Świnoujście.

He has just crossed the Vistula, passed Bydgoszcz, and is now heading towards Gorzów and Kostrzyn. After that, it’s a straight course to his hometown.

“I’ve been planning this trip for a long time: from sea to sea, via rivers and canals, solo. Sleeping in nature – in a tent, hammock, or on the boat – with my own provisions. The goal is to paddle about 700 km in roughly 21–23 days,” says Bogusz Borkowski.

You can follow his journey on Instagram at Bogusz Borkowski’s profile. If all goes according to plan and the weather remains favorable, we expect him to arrive in Szczecin on August 15.
