The great sailing festival has begun! The first day is behind us – full of amazing attractions, stunning ships, and fantastic entertainment. And this is only the beginning!
The Main Stars
From the very start, the biggest attractions have been the tall ships and other vessels moored in Szczecin. Captains eagerly open their decks to visitors, offering a glimpse of life at sea and the chance to hear true maritime tales.
From Saturday, cruises set off – tickets, both online and at the counters, sold out in a flash. All vessels are fully booked with passengers.
The Orchestras
At noon, the 8th Festival of Brass Bands for the Mayor of Szczecin’s Cup began. A spectacular parade from the Adam Mickiewicz Monument to Solidarność Square, followed by performances, drew large crowds. Despite the scorching heat, the musicians gave it their all.
In the afternoon, the ensembles performed in the picturesque Summer Theatre. And this is just the beginning – for the next two days we’ll admire their talent, with the winners announced on Sunday.
Zones of Great Fun
On Friday, all festival zones came alive with excitement.
At the Adam Mickiewicz Monument, children entered a world of imagination and carefree fun. Inflatable playgrounds and two amusement parks on both sides of the Oder awaited the youngest. In the Sailing Zone, visitors admired yachts, learned how to tie knots, and discovered the secrets of sailing.
On Łasztownia, experiments, educational games, and fun awaited at the ZWiK Fun Fountain.
The right bank pulsed with music and flavors – in the Craft Beer Zone and Sedina Summer Club there was dancing, concerts, Food Port, and Wielkopolskie Smaki.
The left bank was equally tempting with aromas – Admiralska Street was taken over by food trucks serving delicacies from around the world, while Jarmark pod Żaglami opened on Jana z Kolna Street with food stalls and beer taverns.
At the top of the Chrobry Embankment, the Artists’ Alley showcased unique handicrafts, alongside Zachodniopomorskie Flavors Alley, filled with regional delicacies from Western Pomerania.
Unforgettable Music
On the main sailing stage, a unique concert took place – Piotr Banach and Friends took the audience on a journey through the greatest hits of the bands he has co-created over his 45-year career. Among the guests were Renata Przemyk, Wojciech Waglewski, Kamil Bednarek, and Kuba Badach. The public heard the biggest songs of Hey and Indios Bravos.
Folk and shanty rhythms were also present – throughout the afternoon, the Szczecin Stage echoed with maritime songs.
This was just the first day of our sailing voyage, with so many attractions it could make your head spin. On Saturday, we sail on!
