Celebrating Piotr Banach’s Musical Journey on the Sail Stage

We’re revealing the musical highlights of this year’s Żagle. On Friday, one of the most important figures of Szczecin’s music scene will celebrate his career anniversary on the main stage – join us for the concert “Piotr Banach & Friends.”

A strong Szczecin accent to kick off the musical performances during Żagle. On Friday, August 15, Piotr Banach – composer, guitarist, lyricist, producer, known from bands like Hey and Indios Bravos – will celebrate a double anniversary: his 60th birthday and 45 years on stage. Above all, Banach is a seeker. Throughout his 45 years in music, he has consistently followed his own path, avoiding genre labels and constantly expanding the boundaries of his creativity.

He debuted in the late 1970s, but gained nationwide recognition as a co-founder and first guitarist of the band Hey. It was Banach who crafted the distinctive sound of their debut album Fire (1993), which transformed the face of Polish rock in the 1990s.

After leaving Hey, he continued his musical journey as the leader of Indios Bravos – a unique fusion of reggae, rock, and electronics. Over the years he has also been an active producer, recording engineer, and mentor to young artists. His solo works showcase a sensitive artist unafraid to experiment and reach for new forms of expression.

For Banach, 2025 marks a special moment – his 60th birthday and 45th stage anniversary. To celebrate, he has prepared a series of anniversary concerts drawing from his entire musical output. Together with invited guests – artists of various generations he has shared the stage with or inspired – he will create a unique story through sound. Among the invited musicians is Kafi Ficaj – a vocalist and long-time collaborator on his musical journey.

Banach is a creator who doesn’t just play music – he lives it. His concerts are not only a retrospective but, above all, a living experience of connection – with the audience, emotions, and a story he continues to write anew.

The Żagle 2025 event will take place from August 15 to 17. The concert “Piotr Banach & Friends” is scheduled for Friday on the main stage, located on Jana z Kolna Street.
