The finale of The Tall Ships Races for the 5th time!

The finale of The Tall Ships Races for the 5th time!

Emotions have barely settled after last year’s finale of The Tall Ships Races, and already we can begin preparing for the next Rally of the Great Sailing Ships. Szczecin has officially been included in the route of The Tall Ships Races 2028.

This will mark the fifth time Szczecin hosts the TSR finale. In 2028, the majestic tall ships will once again sail the Baltic Sea, participating in two races and one Friendship Cruise. The vessels will visit four ports: Kiel (Germany), Turku (Finland), Tallinn (Estonia), and Szczecin (Poland).

Images from last year’s finale are still vivid in our minds. We’ve only just wrapped up the fourth edition, and already we are getting ready to welcome the tall ships in 2028. This is fantastic news for the entire sailing community, as well as for our residents and tourists who have come to associate Szczecin with these majestic vessels. I’m proud that our city has become part of such a prestigious sailing family. Our finales are now internationally recognized, and sailors fondly remember their stays in Szczecin long after departing our port. We now face a period of intense preparations, and I believe that – just like in previous editions – we will live up to expectations and prove once again that Szczecin is a truly welcoming port” says Piotr Krzystek, Mayor of Szczecin.

We can expect the tall ships to arrive in Szczecin in the second half of July 2028. According to the current schedule, the race will begin on Thursday, June 22, and conclude on Tuesday, July 25. Notably, Germany’s Kiel will feature on the route for the first time since 1987.

We are delighted to partner with these experienced ports for The Tall Ships Races 2028. With their proven track records in hosting large-scale international sailing events, we are confident they will deliver an unforgettable experience for the fleet, crews, young trainees, and visitors alike – while also showcasing everything their beautiful cities have to offer. We have strong partnerships with all of our host cities, and we look forward to building on them throughout the 2028 edition of the regatta” said Vanessa Mori, Deputy CEO and Commercial Director of Sail Training International.

The TSR 2028 itinerary includes two racing legs and one Friendship Cruise, and will proceed as follows:
Kiel (June 22–25) – Turku (July 6–9) – Tallinn (July 12–15) – Szczecin (July 22–25).

Szczecin has previously hosted the grand finale of The Tall Ships Races in the years: 2007, 2013, 2017, and 2024.
