“Maria” is a legend of the Szczecin and Polish ensign. This inconspicuous, 10-meter “Kneź” type yacht was for decades the home and “vehicle of dreams” of Captain Ludomir Mączka, the famous “Ludek”. Together they traversed the oceans, proving that great deeds do not require gigantic vessels, but a great heart and passion.

Oceanic Vagabond: It is the first Polish yacht to circumnavigate the globe twice. “Maria” has tens of thousands of nautical miles behind her and has hosted hundreds of people on board – friends of the captain, for whom a shared voyage was a school of life on their own terms. The ship has survived storms of all oceans, always safely bringing its crew to port.

2026 – The Year of Ludomir Mączka: The presence of “Maria” at the Szczecin “Żagle” (Sails) has a symbolic dimension this year. The year 2026 has been declared the Year of Ludomir Mączka – we are celebrating the 100th anniversary of the birth (born 1926) and the 20th anniversary of the death (died 2006) of this outstanding sailor, geologist, and traveler. “Maria” remains a living monument to his philosophy of freedom and love for the sea.
