The yacht RUBIN was built in 1974 at the small German shipyard Deerberg, as part of a limited series. Her first home port was Brandenburg, Germany, and her current home port is Stepnica. Two sister ships with similar cutter rigs are moored in the port of Mönkebude.
From the outset, the vessel was equipped with a Deutz-type auxiliary engine producing 65 hp, air-cooled. It has since been replaced with a Yanmar engine rated at 54 hp, water-cooled.
RUBIN has sailed across the Baltic Sea, through the Danish Straits, along the German and Polish coasts, and into the Mediterranean Sea. She has moored in ports such as Copenhagen, Malmö, Helsingør, Skagen, and many others. The yacht has completed around 40 tourist and cod fishing expeditions in the waters around Bornholm and the Danish Kattegat Strait, including approximately 100 voyages to Bornholm alone. She has also participated in several oldtimer regattas.
